LITERATURE

Portuguese literature, one of the earliest Western literatures, developed through text and music. PAINTING

The first lusos painters of that name is known back to the fifteenth century, as Nuno Gonçalves, representative of the Gothic painting period. José Malhoa, known for his work Fado, and Columban Bordalo Pinheiro (who painted the portraits of Teófilo Braga and Antero de Quental) are two references in naturalist painting.

Portuguese is a Romance language like Italian, French, Romanian and Romansh , among others, the Ibero-Romance group, such as Spanish , Catalan and Galician. Portuguese is also known as "the language of Camões " ( because Luis de Camões , author of The Lusiads ), " the last flower of Latium ," a term used in the sonnet Portuguese Language Olavo Bilac and also the " sweet language » by Miguel de Cervantes.
